NASHVILLE – The state of Tennessee experienced lower unemployment in April, according to newly released data from the Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD). It is the second consecutive month the statewide jobless rate has dropped.

The Tennessee State Museum will commemorate Tennessee’s 227th birthday on Thursday, June 1 with free Statehood Day events starting at 10:00 a.m. and ending at 3:00 p.m. Activities include Tennessee-themed Storytime in the Children's Gallery with guests Miss Tennessee America Lauren Dickson and Miss Tennessee Cosmos Amanda Bell; a keynote lecture from the Museum's chief curator Richard White; print shop demonstrations; highlight tours; cupcakes and more. The Museum joins its neighbors at Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park and the Tennessee State Library & Archives in hosting free activities throughout the day.

HUNTSVILLE, Tenn. - The Special Investigation Section of the Tennessee Department of Revenue conducted the investigation that led to the indictment and arrest of Kalab Andrew Eskew. Revenue special agents arrested Eskew, age 39, Tuesday. His bond was set at $5,000.

Nashville, TN – As part of the Tennessee’s ongoing commitment to bring Innovative School Models (ISMs) to every public middle and high school in Tennessee, the Tennessee Department of Education has awarded over $560 million across 137 public school districts and 45 public charter schools to invest in students and their postsecondary success. Thanks to the historic investment by Governor Lee and the Tennessee General Assembly, this grant funding was distributed over 182 grants to increase opportunities for career readiness and student success statewide.

NASHVILLE--Tennessee Department of Financial Institutions Commissioner Greg Gonzales announced today that the maximum effective formula rate of interest in Tennessee is 12.25 percent per annum. The rate is based on a ceiling of 4 percent over the weekly average prime loan rate of 8.25 percent as published by the Federal Reserve on May 15, 2023.
