The Department of Safety and Homeland Security announced today that Driver Services at the Carter County Clerk’s office, 801 E Elk Avenue, Elizabethton, will close on Wednesday, Oct. 30, for a one-day installation of new credentialing equipment and a new self-service kiosk. Driver Services will resume on Thursday, Oct. 31.

On Oct. 14, at approximately 8:17 p.m. troopers were dispatched to a person lying in the emergency lane of I-40 eastbound in Roane County at the 341-mile marker. Immediately Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were notified and upon their arrival, EMS transported the female to UT Medical Center.
