Tennessee State Museum Wins Multiple Awards

Nashville, TN — March 23, 2017 — The Tennessee State Museum was recognized with eight different awards at the Tennessee Association of Museums Awards Ceremony last week in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

Awards of Excellence were presented for the following projects:

Temporary Exhibit: “I Have a Voice: Tennessee’s African American Musical Heritage.”
Exhibit Component: Burgner Musical Desk AV Presentation 
Educational Programming: Lunch & Learn Series 
Publication: 2016 Education Programs Poster

Awards of Commendation were presented for the following projects: 

Special Event: New State Museum Groundbreaking and Statewide Community Meetings 
Website: New State Museum Website 
Special Recognition: Mercy Street Blog

Joshua Cox was recognized for Superlative Achievement as an Emerging Museum Professional

And, one TAMMY award!

Ella Marie Sullivan was awarded the first ever TAMMY award for her very creative selfie which she posted on #MuseumSelfie Day in January.

The purpose of the TAM Awards of Excellence program is to recognize, encourage, and promote excellence within the activities of the Tennessee museum community and organizations in related fields of interest. These awards focus public attention on the outstanding programs, projects, and services offered by Tennessee museums. 

The State Museum was proud to be recognized in so many categories by its peers.
