Changing Exhibitions

Museum patrons view the Red Grooms temporary exhibit.

The State Museum offers a variety of temporary exhibits, from exciting blockbuster shows to fascinating displays on Tennessee’s art, history, and culture. Located on the lower level of the museum, the Changing Galleries present these special exhibitions on a rotating basis throughout the year. In the past, these have included an exhibition about slaves and slaveholders at a plantation near Nashville, artworks from world renown artists from a museum in Japan, and even the Emancipation Proclamation.
