Haslam Appoints Boniface Circuit Court Judge In Third Judicial District

Replacement follows death of Judge Michael Faulk   
 
NASHVILLE – Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam today appointed Beth Boniface of Morristown as Circuit Court Judge for the Third Judicial District.
 
Boniface replaces Judge Michael Faulk, who died last November. The district serves Greene, Hamblen, Hancock and Hawkins counties.
 
“We are fortunate to have someone with Beth Boniface’s qualifications and experience to serve in this capacity,” Haslam said. “She is known to be diligent and respectful. The Third Judicial District will be well served with her on the bench.”
 
“I am humbled by the Governor’s confidence in me and thank him for this opportunity,” Boniface said.  “I also would like to thank everyone who supported me in this effort.  I will do my best to faithfully serve the citizens of the Third Judicial District.”
 
Since 2008, Boniface, 46, has practiced as an attorney in Morristown focusing on family and custody cases, contract disputes, divorce, contracts and business law, juvenile law, adoption, planning and administration of estates, and special needs planning for the disabled.
 
Boniface served as magistrate in Hamblen County Juvenile Court in Morristown from 2010-2014. She was a partner at Shelton and Boniface in Morristown from 2005-2008, and she practiced from 2004-2005 in Knoxville with a focus on creation of new businesses and special needs planning for the disabled.
 
She has been active in numerous community organizations. Since 2010, Boniface has been a board member for Kidz Succeed Inc., which promotes rehabilitation of youth involved in the juvenile system. Since 2012, she has been a committee member and participant in Hamblen Legal Link, a monthly free legal clinic that gives access to the legal system to disadvantaged people in the area.
 
She was a board member in 2009 for Legal Aid of East Tennessee and a board member from 2008-2010 at Riding High, a volunteer organization focusing on providing education and therapy for physically and mentally disabled citizens. She was a board member in 2008-2010 for All Saints Episcopal School, a private elementary and middle school. She has been a board member for Encore Theatrical Company in Morristown and a board member for fund-raising for the cancer center at the Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System Healing and Hope Committee. She has also been active in Girls’ Inc., a non-profit organization to inspire young women toward a successful, safe future.
 
Boniface received a juris doctorate at the University of Richmond School of Law in Richmond, Va., in 1994 and a B.A. in political science at Mary Washington University in Fredericksburg, Va. in 1991.
 
She and her husband, Shahin Assadnia, a vascular surgeon, have three children, Rebecca, Xander and Sophie.
