Michigan-based Automotive Supplier Plans $23 Million Investment in Perry County
Manufacturing Facility to Create 400 Jobs Over Five Years
NASHVILLE – Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam and Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bill Hagerty today joined with officials from Perry County to welcome NYX, Inc., a Michigan-based automotive supplier, to Linden, Tenn. The company, who also owns Bates, LLC, an existing automotive manufacturing facility in Lobelville, Tenn., is planning a $23 million manufacturing facility to produce injection molded plastics for a wide variety of automotive manufacturers beginning in early 2012, creating 400 jobs over a five-year period.
“Companies recognize and appreciate Tennessee's attractive business climate, and this additional investment by NYX is a vote of confidence in our state,” Haslam said. “We appreciate NYX's decision to locate a facility in Linden, and we will continue focusing on our regional economic development strategy to attract quality jobs to rural communities."
“This investment represents the types of high-skilled jobs that Tennessee needs to succeed economically,” Hagerty said. “I appreciate NYX’s investment in Perry County and know that the experienced and dedicated workforce there will produce a successful partnership between the company and the state.”
“After many successful years in Tennessee with our Bates, LLC operation in Lobelville, based on the positive relationships with our employees, the County, and the State of Tennessee, it made a lot sense for us to locate our newest facility in Perry County,” Dan Laible, chief financial officer, NYX Inc., said. “We are excited to expand in Tennessee and look forward to becoming a part of the Linden community.”
NYX, Inc. has signed a 10-year lease for the 175,000 square-foot Fisher building in Linden, Tenn., from the Perry County Industrial Development Board. The Bates operation in Lobelville will remain intact, with no change to employment numbers.
“We are excited about NYX’s expansion in Perry County. The new facility will provide long awaited employment opportunities for our area and we look forward to continuing to work with NYX.” Perry County Mayor John Carroll said. “This would not have been possible without the help and cooperation of many individuals all working together to make this expansion a reality.”
“The quality of the local workforce is one of the main reasons NYX chose to locate its operation here,” Matt Votaw, executive director, Perry County Chamber of Commerce said. “They know that there is a quality workforce here waiting for these jobs. NYX knows the area, the people and have seen firsthand through its Bates facility in Lobelville what to expect when placing its operation here.”
NYX will begin accepting applications and resumes in November.
