Will Reid, P.E.

Commissioner
Tennessee Department of Transportation

Will Reid, P.E, was appointed Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) by Governor Bill Lee in July 2025. A licensed professional engineer with more than 25 years of experience in the transportation industry, including over a decade of service at TDOT, Reid brings deep technical expertise, a business-minded perspective, and a results-driven leadership approach to overseeing Tennessee’s transportation system.

Prior to joining TDOT, he spent 15 years in the private sector as a transportation engineering consultant delivering solutions for public-sector clients. As Commissioner, Reid is focused on delivering a safe, reliable, and fiscally responsible transportation network for Tennessee. He has championed accountability, transparency, and stewardship of taxpayer dollars, including advancing TDOT's first fiscally constrained 10-Year Project Plan to guide longterm transportation investments.

Reid has led efforts to modernize project delivery, expand the use of alternative delivery methods and Public-Private Partnerships (P3s), and strengthen TDOT's ability to deliver critical infrastructure projects on time and on budget. Under his leadership, TDOT has maintained its commitment to delivering 100 percent of its annual transportation program while prioritizing safety, strategic investment, innovation, and partnerships that support Tennessee's continued growth.

A West Tennessee native and graduate of the University of Memphis with a degree in Civil Engineering, Reid and his family live in Franklin, Tennessee. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoys fishing and hunting and has a deep appreciation for Tennessee's natural resources
