Overview:
Modern aerial apparatus are extremely powerful and impressive pieces of firefighting machinery. In order to utilize these machines to their full potential, it requires the aerial operator to have more than just a basic understanding of aerial operations. In addition, it is critically important for the aerial operator to be intimately familiar with the operating parameters of their specific unit.
This course is designed to teach the student the various applications and configurations that modern aerial apparatus can be utilized for. Emphasis will be placed on the specific capabilities of the hosting department’s aerial device. By the conclusion of this class students will have an in-depth understanding of the characteristics of modern aerial devices, how to properly position the modern aerial, and advanced aerial operational techniques.

Course Objectives:
- Students will know how to discuss the principles of stabilizing the aerial apparatus on level ground.
- Students will be able to discuss the various components found on the modern aerial apparatus.
- Students will be able to demonstrate positioning considerations when there is a known rescue to be made.
