Will Kerby
Director of Insurance
Will Kerby was appointed as Director of Insurance for the Department in September 2025. In this role, he supports the Assistant Commissioner and the Division of Insurance's sections in their work.
Prior to being promoted to the role of Director of Insurance, Mr. Kerby served as the Department's Chief Counsel for Insurance and TennCare Oversight from 2022-2025 where he oversaw a team of attorneys and paralegals that advised the divisions on a broad range of regulatory, rulemaking, administrative, consumer protection, and legislative issues. Before joining the Department, Mr. Kerby served as Associate Counsel for the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation from 2017-2022, where he supported Tennessee’s beautiful state parks and natural areas. Prior to government practice, Mr. Kerby was in private practice with the Ashworth Law Firm in Franklin, Tennessee where he focused on real estate transactions, real property law, business law, and estate planning.
Mr. Kerby earned his law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law as well as a Bachelor of Science in Commerce and Business Administration from the University of Alabama, where he graduated magna cum laude. Mr. Kerby and his family live in Nashville.
