Patsy Hazlewood was appointed to the Tennessee Public Utility Commission (TPUC) in 2026 by the Honorable Cameron Sexton, Speaker of the Tennessee House of Representatives.

Commissioner Hazlewood most recently served in the Tennessee House of Representatives, representing parts of Chattanooga from 2015-2024.  During her tenure, she chaired the Finance, Ways and Means Committee and was instrumental in passing balanced budgets while prioritizing the interests of the House.  She also served for years on the influential Business and Utilities Committee which regularly considered TPUC budget proposals and related utility legislation.  Prior to her time in legislature, Commissioner Hazlewood worked for AT&T, the Tennessee Department of Economic and Development’s Southeast Regional Director and was an organizer of CapitalMark Bank and Trust.

While balancing a career at AT&T as well as time as a state representative, she also found time to serve her community in other ways.  She was an elder and trustee at Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church; past president of the Downtown Chattanooga Rotary Club; member of the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce; Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga; Chattanooga Better Business Bureau; Greater Chattanooga Sports Committee;  Urban League; Member of the Board of Finley Stadium; Board of Friends of the Festival; former board member of the Tennessee Aquarium;  TC Thompson Children’s Hospital Foundation; and River City Company.

She has also received several honors and awards over the years:  the 1999 Chattanooga Area Manager of the Year; 2002 Chattanooga Philanthropist of the Year; 2005 Better Business Bureau Honoree; 2005 Junior League Service Award; 2012 Tennessee Woman of Distinction; 2017 Chattanooga State Dinner of Firsts Honoree.

Commissioner Hazlewood is a graduate of Middle State University with a Bachelor of Science in mathematics and physics.  She has one son, three stepdaughters, two grandsons, three step-grandsons and two step-granddaughters.
