NASHVILLE – Tennessee residents are invited to participate in a statewide white oak acorn collection project to aid in white oak restoration across the state. Called the Tennessee White Oak Initiative, it is a cooperative effort between the Tennessee Department of Agriculture Division of Forestry (TDF), TDF’s East Tennessee Nursery, the University of Tennessee Extension, and the Tennessee Forestry Association.

On Oct. 14, at approximately 8:17 p.m. troopers were dispatched to a person lying in the emergency lane of I-40 eastbound in Roane County at the 341-mile marker. This area is approximately one mile east of exit 340, the Rockwood Municipal Airport Road exit. Upon arrival, troopers found a black female with serious injuries. Immediately Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were notified and upon their arrival, EMS transported the female to UT Medical Center.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Today, Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee unveiled the Helene Emergency Assistance Loans (HEAL) Program, a $100 million fund to directly serve the health and wellbeing of Tennesseans in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. Counties eligible for assistance include Carter, Claiborne, Cocke, Grainger, Greene, Hamblen, Hawkins, Jefferson, Johnson, Sevier, Sullivan, Unicoi and Washington.
