NASHVILLE, TN– The Tennessee Department of Human Services (TDHS) has opened applications for the 2025 Families First Community Grant Program, an initiative that will make available approximately $27 million in funding to non-profit organizations providing direct services to strengthen Tennessee families in need and promote self-sufficiency.

Nashville, TN—Today, the Tennessee Department of Education (department) announced four state finalists for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching (PAEMST). The PAEMST award is the nation’s highest honor for U.S. K-12 science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and/or computer science teachers. The awards program is administered by the National Science Foundation (NSF) on behalf of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.

A newly formed partnership between the Tennessee Highway Patrol and local law enforcement agencies is producing early results in the fight against violent crime in Memphis. Known as the Bluff City Task Force, the initiative was launched in May to strategically saturate high-crime areas with uniformed officers, focusing on proactive traffic enforcement as a means to disrupt criminal activity.

NASHVILLE--Tennessee Department of Financial Institutions Commissioner Greg Gonzales announced today that the maximum effective formula rate of interest in Tennessee is 11.50 percent per annum. The rate is based on a ceiling of 4 percent over the weekly average prime loan rate of 7.50 percent as published by the Federal Reserve on May 27, 2025.
