MEMPHIS, Tenn. – More than 200 Soldiers from the Tennessee National Guard’s 730th Composite Supply Company deployed Monday, Feb. 6, on the first leg of a nine-month deployment overseas.

Nashville, TN—Today, the Tennessee Department of Education and Tennessee Education Research Alliance (TERA) released key findings and responses from the 2022 Tennessee Educator Survey from more than 39,000 educators, totaling over half of the state’s educator population. Responses from the 2022 survey are vital to informing the state’s work on improving educator experiences in Tennessee. As a result of this input, the department is excited to examine new ways to attract and retain educators in the state.

The Tennessee Department of Human Services (TDHS) is announcing its participation in the 2023 Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) and the opening of this year’s application period. The goal of the Summer Food Service Program is to ensure children 18 and younger, who benefit from meal programs at school, continue to have that same access to nutritious meals when school is out for the summer.

Throughout the month of February, the Tennessee State Museum will honor the stories of some of Tennessee's most noteworthy historic Black businesses with "The Legacy of Black Entrepreneurship in Tennessee" series. Each Thursday as part of its Lunch & Learn program, beginning February 2, a guest will join the Museum’s curator of social history, Tranae Chatman, for a conversation on how they continue the legacy of their family businesses. Visitors will learn the history of these businesses from a new generation of leaders as they share their own experience and insight into their family history. Events will take place at 12 p.m. Central Time in the Museum's Digital Learning Center, and be livestreamed on the Museum's website at TNMuseum.org/Videos, except where noted.

Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee, Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Stuart McWhorter and Bottling Company International (BCI) officials announced today the company will invest $9.5 million to establish a new bottling, storage and distribution facility in Morrison, Tennessee.

NASHVILLE--Tennessee Department of Financial Institutions Commissioner Greg Gonzales announced today that the maximum effective formula rate of interest in Tennessee is 11.50 percent per annum. The rate is based on a ceiling of 4 percent over the weekly average prime loan rate of 7.50 percent as published by the Federal Reserve on January 30, 2023.
