Reel Fun on Public Lakes

There are more than 48,000 acres of public lands spread across Benton, Carroll and Henderson Counties. It’s a perfect destination for fishermen of all ages and abilities.

Natchez Trace offers a variety of fishing destinations. 

Brown’s Creek Lake (167 acre) is managed by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) using Florida strain Largemouth Bass to produce trophy Largemouth Bass. Fish surveys have documented that there are bass in the 10-pound class in the lake.  Jon boat rentals are available and a lake permit fee is required. 

• Largemouth Bass: 5 per day, 18–24 inch PLR.  Only one (1) fish longer than 24 inches may be harvested.
• Bluegill: no creel or length limit.
• Redear: 20 per day, no length limit.
• Crappie (all species): 30 per day, no minimum length limit.
• Blue/Channel Catfish: 5 per day in combination, no length limit.

Maple’s Creek Lake (90 acres) is also managed by TWRA and provides excellent catfish fishing and quality Bluegill and Redear Sunfish. Jon boat rentals are available and a day or annual lake use permits are available on-site via a drop box.

• Largemouth Bass: No creel limit for fish 18 inches and less in length, only one fish over 18 inches in length may be harvested per day. 
• Bluegill: no creel or length limit. 
• Redear: 20 per day, no length limit. 
• Crappie (all species): No creel or length limit. 
• Blue/Channel Catfish: 5 per day in combination, no length limit.

Pin Oak Lake (690 acres) is managed by the Natchez Trace State Park and fishing can be productive for bass, bluegill and catfish.  Please follow all fishing regulations.
