Our Mission
To create a place where youth with or without disabilities, chronic illnesses, and special healthcare needs learn to work together and build a more accessible and inclusive world.
YAC Intro to Mental Health First Aid
In collaboration with the Tennessee Department of Health and Family Voices of Tennessee, the Youth Advisory Council brings together youth and adults who are ages 14 to 24 and have special healthcare needs, to advise on activities, programs, policies, and resources affecting the health, wellbeing, and successful transition of youth across Tennessee. YAC members commit to:
· Attend quarterly meetings;
· Provide feedback to TDH and FVTN;
· Learn self-advocacy skills; and,
· Conduct themselves in a respectful manner.
Eligibility Requirements
- Between 14 and 24 years of age
- Diagnosed with a physical, emotional, behavioral, developmental, or intellectual healthcare need
- Lived experience with a sibling

2025 Family and Youth Conference
Join the Family and Youth Advisory Councils for its 2025 Family and Youth Conference.
This year’s conference will provide essential insights and knowledge for youth (ages 14-24) and families, empowering them to rise to new heights. The conference will focus on transition-related topics for both youth and parents/caregivers, including mental health, navigation, and continuity of care in a medical home, self-advocacy, social media impact and bullying, and more!
