Welcome Baby

Welcome Baby is the Tennessee Department of Health’s universal outreach program. The purpose of Welcome Baby is to provide timely information to address the needs of families with newborns and to connect children and families with appropriate services in the community. Since the fall of 2013, the parents of every newborn in Tennessee have received a “Welcome Baby” book in the mail.

After a decade of mailing books to families, the Welcome Baby book was adapted into an app. The innovative transition from a physical book to a digital platform empowers caregivers in Tennessee with a comprehensive and readily accessible toolkit for pregnancy, birth, and early childhood. Through the Welcome Baby app, caregivers can access a wealth of information, from safe sleep to child development milestones, right at their fingertips. The app aims to be a go-to resource, seamlessly integrating education and resource connection. Welcome Baby will continue to grow and enhance with additional education and resources.
