The Tennessee Department of Health’s SPARK Program provides federal and state funding to health departments and organizations that provide youth ages 10-19 in Tennessee with education, skills, and resources that promote abstinence and sexual risk avoidance through a Positive Youth Development (PYD) framework.

SPARK Three Primary Goals:

  1. Normalize avoidance of non-marital sexual activity and delay sexual initiation for Tennessee youth.
  2. Empower youth to make healthy decisions and avoid risky behaviors through a positive youth development (PYD) framework.
  3. Encourage parents and caregivers to create supportive environments to enhance adolescent health in Tennessee.
