The FACT Summit, Tennessee’s first statewide youth tobacco prevention conference took place July 17-19 at the Sevierville Convention Center. More than 400 teens from 50 Tennessee counties participated in the summit, learning from Tennessee teens and youth advocates who shared their experiences and guidance for promoting tobacco-free lifestyles. Participants learned​ FACTs about the harmful impacts of tobacco products and how these products are marketed to youth, along with skills and techniques for implementing tobacco and nicotine addiction prevention activities in their communities.

FACT Summit participants also initiated Tennessee’s youth-led movement of peer-to-peer education and advocacy for prevention of tobacco and nicotine addiction across Tennessee, named TNSTRONG for “Tennessee Stop Tobacco and Revolutionize Our New Generation.” They chose as their mission “To inspire and prepare Tennessee students to create a tobacco-free tomorrow.” Teen Ambassadors have been selected to lead this movement, with support from the Tennessee Department of Health.
