Sammie Arnold joined the Tennessee Department of Economic & Community Development (ECD) in August of 2013 and serves as Assistant Commissioner of Community & Rural Development. He oversees the department’s efforts to boost investment and development in Tennessee’s rural communities, with a particular emphasis on distressed and at-risk communities. Prior to joining ECD, Sammie worked in the state capitol building in Nashville as a legislative liaison for Governor Bill Haslam. He was also a staffer on Governor Haslam’s successful gubernatorial campaign in 2010. Sammie is a native of Dyersburg, TN. He received a B.A. in Psychology from Vanderbilt University, and a J.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Law. He and his wife Laine live in Nashville with their newborn daughter.
