A Vacation Lodging Service (VLS) engages in the business of providing the services of management, marketing, booking, and rental of residential units owned by others as sleeping accommodations furnished for pay to transients or travelers staying no more than fourteen (14) days.

Each VLS must have a Vacation Lodging Service Firm license and a Designated Agent license for the person managing the VLS. Both licenses can be applied for through CORE.

It is not necessary to have a licensed Real Estate Broker supervising the business.

  1. Zoning letter within the last six (6) months.
    2. Escrow waiver, if applicable.

Application & Fees

Complete the “Initial Vacation Lodging Service Firm Application” online at core.tn.gov. The fee for the application is $90.
