Designated Agent
Tennessee Real Estate CommissionEvery Vacation Lodging Services (VLS) Firm is required to have a licensed Designated Agent. The Designated Agent must be an individual who is also an owner, principal, officer, or upper-level manager of the VLS Firm.
It is the responsibility of the Designated Agent to supervise the firm office, all employees of the firm, to maintain the firm escrow account, and to complete the pre-license and continuing education.

Education Requirements
Must have a high school diploma or GED.
Licensing Requirements
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
2. Must provide adequate proof that the applicant is an owner, principal, officer, or upper-level manager of the VLS Firm.
3. Must complete approved eight (8) hour pre-license course and include the completion certificate with your application.
4. Must be affiliated with a licensed Tennessee VLS, and the firm license and the Designated Agent license must expire at the same time (proration of fees and adjustment of license expiry permitted).
5. Two (2) years must have passed from the date of expiration of probation, parole, or conviction, or from the date of release from incarceration, whichever is longer in time. This restriction applies to all felonies and to misdemeanors that involve the theft of money, services, or property.
6. Must provide an electronic fingerprinting receipt and the ORI number with your application (ORI#: TN920784Z).

Applicants residing in Tennessee must make an appointment through IdentoGO who will transmit your fingerprints to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for processing. Out-of-State applicants who are unable to go to an IdentoGO location may use their non-resident card scan service. This program uses advanced scanning technology to convert a traditional fingerprint card into an electronic record, allowing processing as quickly as electronic fingerprinting.

Continuing Education Requirements
Designed Agents must complete eight (8) hours of Continuing Education.
Application & Fees
Complete the “Initial Designated Agent Application” online at core.tn.gov. The fee for the application is $90.
