Temporary Practice Permit

Tennessee Real Estate Appraiser Commission

An individual who is performing an appraisal on one assignment, for one client, in Tennessee may apply for a Temporary Practice Permit. Multiple properties can be considered as one assignment if the assignment is for the same client and reports are for the same intended use, and the same time period.

There is a maximum of six (6) permits issued each calendar year; one extension may be requested in writing before the expiration date.

According to Tennessee Code Annotated §62-39-338, the Commission may issue a temporary practice permit to a nonresident of this state who is properly licensed or certified in another state. The holder of a valid temporary practice permit shall be authorized to perform appraisals in this state, subject to the requirements of this chapter and the rules promulgated by the Commission.

If a temporary practice permit holder’s out-of-state license has been revoked, suspended, denied renewal, or restricted, then the Commission may revoke, suspend, refuse to renew, or restrict a permit holder’s temporary practice permit.
