Registered Trainee
Tennessee Real Estate Appraiser CommissionTo become a Registered Trainee, an applicant must file an initial application with the Commission and meet the minimum requirements set forth by the Appraisal Qualifications Board (AQB) of the Appraisal Foundation.
A registered trainee must work under the direct supervision of their sponsor on file.

Education Requirements
Prior to registering with the Commission, an applicant must complete 87 hours of qualifying education within five (5) years preceding the date of application. Certificates of the completed courses must be attached to the application.
- Appraisal Foundation's National USPAP Course – 15 hours
- Appraisal Principles Course – 30 hours
- Appraisal Practice or Procedures Course – 30 hours
- Trainee and Supervisory Course – 4 hours
- Valuation Bias and Fair Housing Laws and Regulations Course – 8 hours
Experience Requirements
No previous experience is required to register as a Trainee. However, to gain experience credit for licensure/certification, an appraiser assistant must have a supervising appraiser and register with the Commission.
