The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security (TDOSHS) announces how Driver Services Centers will operate beginning May 18. All Driver Services Centers, with the exception of the Shelbyville Driver Services Center remain open and are taking additional precautions to protect the health and safety of customers and our employees. We continue to encourage customers to utilize our e-Services portal to complete numerous transactions such as renewals, duplicates, paying reinstatement fees, and completing the new resident application. We ask the public to be please be patient and understanding as normal services resume.

On April 28, 2020, at 9:28 a.m., the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) was notified by the East Feliciana County Parish Sheriff’s Office in Louisiana that a murder suspect wanted for 1st degree murder, Deandre Lamond Galmon, 32, of South Clinton, Louisiana, was possibly in the Mount Juliet, Tennessee area.

On April 18, 2020, the United States Marshals issued a be on the lookout (BOLO) for a silver Jeep Cherokee being driven by 32-year-old Mohammed Ali Saad of Dearborn Heights, Michigan. Saad s a suspect in a Dearborn Heights, Michigan murder investigation.

At this time, most State Driver Services Centers remain open and the Department is currently taking precautions to protect the health and safety of our customers and employees. On March 05, Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) Trooper Douglas Foster stopped a vehicle on I-40 in Putnam County for a traffic violation. As Trooper Foster interviewed the driver and passenger he noticed signs of deception from both. The female passenger gave a name and date of birth that came back not on file, making her true identity suspicious.

The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security will host a rapid hiring event to fill interim Driver License Examiner positions in metropolitan areas across the state.
