Employees with the Tennessee Department of Human Services and other state agencies are helping raise awareness of the problem of hunger in Tennessee with a hunger and wellness walk through downtown Nashville. Participants will be easy to spot wearing the color orange to recognize Feeding America’s Hunger Action Month, which runs through the end of September.

The Tennessee Department of Human Services (TDHS) will open the application process for organizations to participate in this year’s Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) on Thursday, February 1, 2018. The goal of SFSP is to ensure that children 18 and younger who benefit from free and reduced meals during the school year continue to have that same access to nutritious meals during the summer.

The Tennessee Department of Human Services (TDHS) is encouraging more organizations to become a sponsor of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) next year. The CACFP is a federally funded program that provides needed meals to children and adults who meet age and income requirements.
