The state of Tennessee has completed its annual financial report for fiscal year 2017-18.

NASHVILLE – Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam and Department of Veterans Services Commissioner Many-Bears Grinder recognize the service and sacrifice of U.S. Marine Corps Corporal William “Carter” Ross of Hendersonville. Ross was declared deceased by the Marine Corps on December 11 after five days of search and rescue operations to find five Marines involved in an accident involving two aircraft. The KC-130 Hercules was assigned to the Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 152, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing and the F/A-18 Hornet was assigned to Marine All-Weather Fighter Attack Squadron 242. Ross was 21-years old at the time of the accident off the coast of Japan on December 6. He was in the flight crew on the KC-130 at the time of the accident, which is currently under investigation.

NASHVILLE – Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam today granted executive clemency to eleven current or former Tennesseans. “I am pleased to grant these acts of clemency,” Haslam said. “These individuals have made positive contributions to their communities and deserve pardons, or are individuals who will receive another chance to become contributing members of society by virtue of their commutations.”

NASHVILLE – Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam and Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development Commissioner Burns Phillips today released unemployment statistics that show the seasonally adjusted statewide jobless rate dropped by 0.1 of a percentage point in November 2018 to 3.6 percent.

NASHVILLE – With less than two weeks remaining in 2018, fire fatalities in Tennessee have already exceeded their totals from 2017. Ahead of the first day of winter (Dec. 21), the Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office (SFMO) is advising Volunteer State residents that the cold weather season is the deadliest time of the year, and fire-safe behaviors could be the difference between life and death when it comes to home heating fires.

After 35 years in the Army National Guard and eight years as the first woman to serve as Commissioner for the Department of Veterans Services. Grinder is leaving to spend more time with family and pursue educational options, but plans to remain connected to the military and veteran communities.

LEXINGTON, Tenn. - The Special Investigations Section of the Tennessee Department of Revenue conducted the investigation that led to Tamara James pleading guilty Monday to one count of failing to pay sales tax, one count of forgery, and one count of theft over $1,000.

Tennessee Department of Finance and Administration Commissioner Larry Martin announced today that overall November state revenues were $1.0 billion, which is 8.98 percent more than November 2017 and $45.9 million more than the budgeted estimate.
