Policy 6.00: Architecture

Standards and guidelines will be maintained to support a common Information Technology (IT) infrastructure that enables the effective use of information technology resources in the State.

REFERENCE:

OBJECTIVES:

  1. Ensure compatibility across statewide IT resources.
  2. Enable the interchange of data.
  3. Allow for the cost-effective use of IT resources while maintaining maximum compatibility statewide.
  4. Provide standard prerequisite functional and technical requirements for IT procurements.
  5. Ensure agency technical direction is in alignment with overall State technology direction.

SCOPE:

The policy applies to all IT resources.

IMPLEMENTATION:

Department of Finance & Administration, Strategic Technology Solutions (STS)

  1. Maintain procedures to support the use of the information technology architecture at all levels (enterprise, departmental, and endpoint).
  2. Maintain procedures to ensure that the architecture evolves as technology progresses.
  3. Maintain the Tennessee Information Resources Architecture.
  4. Maintain a governance process for the review of agency requests for exceptions to the Tennessee Information Resources Architecture.

Agency Business Management and IT Resources

  1. Implement technology direction and objectives in alignment with overall State objectives and comply with the Tennessee Information Resources Architecture.
  2. Participate in the architectural review process and provide input to the review of components of the architecture.
