Tobacco use remains one of the leading causes of preventable disease and death in Tennessee. Quitting smoking can significantly reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke, cancer, and respiratory illness. It also improves quality of life, increases energy, and enhances overall well-being.

Participants who join a Smoking Cessation Program, available at any Local Health Department will be encouraged to set a quit date, build a support system, and explore strategies that work best for them. The program emphasizes that quitting is a process, not a one-time event, and that every attempt is a step forward.
