Electrical Requirements for Health Care Facilities (3)

Overview: This three-hour course will examine the related passages of the 2020 NFPA 70 – National Electric Code (NEC) which bear on health care related occupancies and functions.  Safety of course is the primary objective, and much attention will be given to proper wiring, connections, sizing, and load calculations, in order to provide adequate safety when installations are close to patients, the public, hazardous gases, chemicals, and operations.  Critical back up and emergency systems will also be discussed as proper inspections are necessary to continual operation in the event of a power failure.  Also patients are dependent on electrical equipment supplied by continuous power supply, and much attention is needed to insure proper loads, installation, and operation in these settings.
