A Manufacturer is any person who manufactures or assembles new and unused motor vehicles or recreational vehicles, or who maintains factory representatives.

A Distributor or Wholesaler is any person who, in whole or in part, sells or distributes any new and unused motor vehicles to motor vehicle dealers or who maintains distributor representatives.

Licensing Requirements

  1. Certificate of Authority from the Secretary of State
  2. List of Dealers, Brands, and Product Names in Tennessee

Application & Fees

Complete the “Initial Manufacturer / Distributor Application” online at core.tn.gov. The fee for an initial application is $2,400.
