Cosmetology and Barber Examiners Board

A barber instructor assistant is a person registered master barber certified by the Board as a barber instructor assistant. Employment as a barber instructor assistant is limited to three years.

Prospective

Every barber school must have one licensed barber instructor for each barber instructor assistant.

Requirements

Certification Requirements
Hold a valid certificate of registration as a master barber, and meet the education and examination requirements.

Education Requirements
Current enrollment in a 300-hour instructor training program at a Board-certified barber school.
 

Application & Fees

Anyone interested in becoming a Barber Instructor Assistant must be registered for the 300-hour instructor training program AND work for a licensed Barber School or College. It is the school that submits a letter to the Board explaining its desire to use the individual as a barber instructor assistant. The school's letter, along with a $25 check for the certificate, must be mailed to the Board. The letter is part of the school's license file, and the individual will be mailed a certificate listing him/her as a barber instructor assistant as soon as the request is approved.
