Angela Nelson serves as the Director of Business Process Improvement. In her role, Ms. Nelson collaborates with Insurance Division leadership and staff, as well as with other internal and external stakeholders, to identify opportunities to streamline business processes, improve efficiency, and increase productivity.  

Angela came to the Department in 2019, starting in the Division of Regulatory Boards before joining the Insurance Division in 2022. Prior to working for the State of Tennessee, she served in a variety of administrative and project management positions within the U.S. Department of the Army Human Resources Command.  

Angela is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Angela and her husband, Brad, currently reside in Clarksville with their cat, Ranger.
