Weather Forces Parole Hearing Cancellations

NASHVILLE --- Extreme winter weather conditions in east Tennessee are forcing the Board of Parole to cancel hearings at multiple institutions on Thursday, February 13.

“Many district attorneys, victims of crime, offender families and others travel to state prisons and county jails to attend parole hearings every day,” said Board Chairman Richard Montgomery. “We want to let the public know not to attempt to travel to these facilities in such harsh weather.”

The facilities affected are:

Morgan County Correctional Center
Jefferson County Jail
Bledsoe County Jail
Greene County Jail

Hearings scheduled for these facilities on February 13 will be rescheduled to the earliest available date. If additional closings are warranted, the Board will update the information on its Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/#!/TNBoardofParole as the information becomes available.
