The Tennessee Open Meetings Act passed by the General Assembly in 1974 requires that meetings of state, city and county government bodies be open to the public and that any such governmental body give adequate public notice of such meetings. Open meeting notices can also be accessed at https://www.tn.gov/artscommission/events.html

The Tennessee Arts Commission will publish the agenda at least forty-eight hours prior to the meeting. The Commission reserves the right to amend the agenda up to forty-eight hours prior to the meeting.  If any member of the public wants to address the Commission, they must give notice that they want to speak on the agenda topics no less than twenty-four hours prior to the Commission’s meeting.

To make a public comment at the meeting or to submit a written public comment to be read at the meeting, a person must register as a “speaker” by submitting a written notification by email through art.communications@tn.gov at least twenty-four hours in advance of the meeting of the Tennessee Arts Commission. The written notification must include name, the agenda item(s) for comment, a brief summary of the issue to be addressed, and whether the speaker will present their own comment or have their comment read at the meeting. Public comments must be germane to the agenda items. Up to five registered speakers will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis based on the time of registration and are limited to no more than two minutes each.

Individuals with disabilities who wish to participate in these proceedings and require accommodation should contact Kim Johnson, Director of Arts & Health, no less than three (3) business days prior to the scheduled meeting date to allow time for the Tennessee Arts Commission to arrange accommodation. We will make every effort to accommodate accessibility requests but due to time and reasonableness, we cannot guarantee that every request will be met.
