Commission To Hold Hearing On Chattanooga Gas Company Rate Increase Petition

Who: The Tennessee Public Utility Commission (TPUC) of Nashville, Tennessee. The TPUC is charged with the responsibility of setting the rates and service standards of privately owned telephone, natural gas, electric, and water utility companies.    

What: The Tennessee Public Utility Commission will hold a public hearing on a petition for a general rate increase by Chattanooga Gas Company. The petition is filed under Docket #18-00017. The company has requested an increase of approximately $6.2 million, which would equate to an average increase of 19.5% across all Chattanooga Gas customers. The Tennessee Public Utility Commission will hear testimony from witnesses on the company’s petition and will determine whether the company’s rate request should be approved. 

When: Monday, August 20, 2018, beginning at 9 a.m. (CDT).

Where: The hearing will be held in Hearing Room G.201 on the ground floor of the Andrew Jackson State Office Building located at 500 Deaderick Street in Nashville, Tennessee.

Why: On February 15, 2018, Chattanooga Gas Company filed a petition for a general rate increase with the Tennessee Public Utility Commission. Chattanooga Gas Company has  requested the rate increase to allay the cost of service to the company including additional proposed investments in its natural gas systems. The public is invited to attend Monday’s hearing.
