Tennessee promotes National Preparedness Month with Media Kick-Off

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) and the Departments of the Military, Safety & Homeland Security and Health will host a press conference at 10:30 a.m., CST, on Monday, Sept. 8, 2014, at the Military Department’s Headquarters on Sidco Drive in Nashville.

 

The press conference will recognize September as National Preparedness Month, and also highlight efforts by the state focus on preparedness for disease outbreaks, children’s safety, and human-caused or natural disasters, as well as to recognize first responders.

 

National Preparedness Month recognizes that individual’s levels of preparedness can prevent injuries and deaths or losses to property. Tennessee state government is committed to being an active partner with local government, the private sector and non-governmental organizations to ensure that Tennesseans can be better protected from all hazards.
