Media Advisory: Governor Haslam to Speak at State Trooper Graduation

NASHVILLE --- Governor Bill Haslam will address Cadet Class 311 of the Tennessee Highway Patrol in a Friday morning graduation ceremony at Hermitage Hills Baptist Church in Hermitage. Department of Safety and Homeland Security Commissioner Bill Gibbons will also speak. It will be the first State Trooper graduation since December of 2008. 
 
Media wishing to cover the event should be in place by 10:45 a.m. Staging will be at the back of the church sanctuary.

There are 44 members of Cadet Class 311. Twenty of them have previous law enforcement experience, and 14 were members of the military. The class motto is “Where we lead, others will follow.” 
 
The Tennessee Department of Safety’s mission is (www.tennessee.gov/safety) to ensure the safety and general welfare of the public. The department encompasses the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Office of Homeland Security and Driver License Services. General areas of responsibility include law enforcement, safety education, motorist services and terrorism prevention.
