176 Pounds of Marijuana Seized in Traffic Stop on I-40

NASHVILLE --- A Tennessee State Trooper stopped a 2004 Ford F-350 pickup on I-40 in Fayette County and seized nearly 176 pounds of marijuana.

At approximately 7 a.m., Tuesday, March 30, Trooper Grant Montgomery observed the pick up in violation of the window tint law. Trooper Montgomery stopped the vehicle on I-40 east bound near mile marker 40 in Fayette County.
 
Trooper Montgomery requested a local drug interdiction unit from the 30th Drug Task Force. A K-9 unit gave positive response to the vehicle near the gas tank. The vehicle gas tank was removed and inside the tank officers uncovered approximately 176 pounds of marijuana.
 
The driver, Jose Angel Garcia, 38, of Irving, Texas is charged with felony possession with intent for resale. The 2004 Ford pickup and marijuana were seized by THP in accordance with state law.
