New Dickson County Driver Service Center to Open

Wednesday, March 18, 2009 | 10:02am

NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee Department of Safety (TDOS) is opening a new Driver Service Center in Dickson, Tennessee, and closing the one currently located at 207 Bruce Drive. The new facility will be located at 114 West Christi Drive in Dickson.

The current Dickson County Driver Service Center will be closed on Friday, March 20, 2009, and will open for business at its new location on Tuesday, March 24, 2009; at 7:00 a.m. Normal hours of business will continue to be Tuesday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. On the second Wednesday of each month, the facility opens one hour late for a monthly staff meeting.

The move gives TDOS the opportunity to move into a larger space that will allow us to serve our customers more efficiently. In 1984, the Driver Service Center moved into the 1,400 square feet modular building on Bruce Drive. It was adequate for serving customers at that time, but the population in Dickson has grown significantly since then and more space is needed. The new facility will be nearly 6,000 square feet. Members of the Tennessee Highway Patrol will also utilize some of the space.

Customers may also use the full-service Driver Service Center in Williamson County located at 3830 South Carothers Parkway. The Franklin facility is open Tuesday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

There are also two full-service Driver Service Centers in Davidson County. One is located at 6604 Centennial Boulevard. The other is located at 624 Hart Lane in Nashville. Both are open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Customers only needing a duplicate license or to renew their driver license can visit the Driver License Express Station located in the William R. Snodgrass Building at 312 8th Avenue North, Third floor, Nashville, Tennessee. Customers may also be able to renew online at www.tn.gov/safety.

The Tennessee Department of Safety’s mission is (www.tn.gov/safety) to ensure the safety and general welfare of the public. The department encompasses the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Office of Homeland Security and Driver License Services.
