THP Appoints Captain Vic Donoho to Nashville District

NASHVILLE --- Today, The Tennessee Highway Patrol announced the appointment of Captain Vic Donoho as the new Captain of the Nashville District. He replaces Captain Rex Prince who retired in November 2008.

A native of Lafayette, Tennessee in Macon County, Vic Donoho, 42, has held a variety of positions with increasing responsibility during his 20-year tenure with the agency, including a year in Washington, D.C., with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Most recently, he served as Captain of the Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR). Formerly the Internal Affairs Division, OPR is charged with managing investigative and disciplinary processes for the Department of Safety to assure that employees of the department meet the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and ethical performance.  Prior to his appointment as OPR Captain in April 2007, Donoho served as Administrative Lieutenant in the Cookeville District from February 2003 to April 2007.
 
Commissioned in 1989, Donoho began his career with the Tennessee Highway Patrol as a Road Trooper in Van Buren and White Counties. His career also includes two years as a Road Trooper in Smith and DeKalb Counties, and four years assigned to Executive Security Detail at the Governor’s Residence, where he was promoted to Sergeant in January 1995. He has also served as a Road Lieutenant in Robertson, Davidson, Macon, Trousdale, Smith and Dekalb Counties, and Lieutenant in the Planning and Research Division.
 
“After devoting 20 years of my career with the Highway Patrol in the Cookeville and Nashville area, I am excited about my new appointment to oversee the Nashville District office,” said Captain Donoho. “I welcome the opportunity to serve Colonel Walker and Commissioner Mitchell in furthering the department’s mission of highway safety.”
 
Captain Donoho is a 1999 graduate of the NHTSA Officer Leadership program and a 2001 graduate of the Northwestern School of Police Staff and Command with a certificate in police administration. He attended Volunteer State Community College and began his emergency services career working at the Macon County Ambulance Service and then as a police officer in Lafayette.
 
Captain Donoho, his wife, Christy and their three children reside in Lafayette.
