TDOS/THP Promotes Three Officers

Nashville, Tennessee — The Tennessee Department of Safety announced the promotions of three dedicated members of the Tennessee Highway Patrol.  The promotion ceremony was held Thursday, April 24, 2008, at 10:30 a.m., at the THP Training Center located at 275 Stewarts Ferry Pike in Nashville.

Commissioner Dave Mitchell, Colonel Mike Walker and members of THP’s Command Staff presented rank advancements to the following members of the Department of Safety:

Larry J. Pollard has been promoted to Special Agent for Region 2 of the THP Criminal Investigation Division (CID).   Since October 16, 2004, Pollard has served as a Senior Regional Advisor for the Middle Tennessee Region of the Tennessee Office of Homeland Security.  He has undergone extensive terrorism training that has included management and remediation of weapons of mass destruction incidents, live explosive and incendiary device training, as well as emergency response to domestic biological, radiological and nuclear terrorism incidents.   Pollard holds a Master of Arts degree in Security Management from Western University in St. Louis, and a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Park University in Parksville, Missouri.  He lives in Nashville with his wife, Cynthia, and three children.

Sergeant Allen Chapman is a 13-year veteran of the Tennessee Highway Patrol.  He began his career as a Trooper in Giles County.  In 1997, Chapman was transferred to Lawrence County, where he currently is assigned.  Chapman holds a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice from Athens State University.  He is certified in several fields, including commercial motor vehicle post-crash investigations and crash reconstructions.  Chapman and his wife, Caroline, live in Lawrenceburg, TN, and have two children.

Kim Ogle has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant at the Knox County Scales.  She started her career with the Tennessee Highway Patrol in 1995 and has served in Jackson, Knox and Sevier counties.  Lt. Ogle is a graduate of Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command and a DUI, EVOC and Defensive Tactics Instructor.  She was a member of the 1st District Strike Team and named Trooper of the Year for the district in 1998 and 1999.  Lt. Ogle is from Sevier County and currently lives in Seymour, TN.
