TDOS Names New CID Director

Nashville, Tennessee —Department of Safety Commissioner David Mitchell has named Frankie Floied as the new Director of the Criminal Investigation Division, effective September 18, 2007.

Floied has served as an investigator in CID since 1989, including Assistant to the Director, Deputy Inspector and Special Agent. Prior to serving with CID, Floied worked as a criminal investigator in the Office of District Attorney General in the 14th Judicial District in Manchester, Tennessee.

Following four years in the U-S Navy & Coast Guard, Floied began his law enforcement career with the Tennessee Highway Patrol as a Road Trooper in Coffee County from 1974-1979. He also served as an instructor for the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy (TLETA) from 1987-1989.

The Criminal Investigation Division investigates vehicular homicide, auto theft, identity theft, driver license fraud and any matters initiated by members of the Tennessee Highway Patrol and Driver License Issuance Division. CID also provides investigative and technical support to the Office of Professional Responsibility with internal affairs investigations.

As part of the reorganization in CID, Captain George Dittfurth will oversee the newly created Intelligence Unit of the THP. The Intelligence Unit will support Troopers with data analysis and information sharing to assist with state and federal intelligence gathering for Homeland Security.
