Roadway Activity Report for the Lower East and Upper Cumberland (June 27-July 3)
NASHVILLE – Road construction won’t slow motorists across Tennessee over the July 4 holiday. The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) will suspend all construction-related lane closures on interstates and state routes beginning at noon on Wednesday, July 3 through 6:00 a.m. on Monday, July 8 to provide maximum roadway capacity for holiday travelers.
A routine Tennessee Department of Transportation inspection of the Gay Street Bridge today revealed a compromised element, which out of an abundance of caution has led to a complete closure of the bridge to vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Drivers traveling on I-24 in Coffee County should be aware of upcoming road construction activities that will have an impact on traffic. As part of the bridge replacement project on I-24 at SR 2 in Coffee County, Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) contract crews will shift interstate traffic nightly (from 7:00 pm to 6:00 am local time) beginning Wednesday evening, June 19, 2024, through Friday evening, June 28, 2024.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - In conjunction with National Pollinator Week, the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has resumed online ordering for milkweed seeds through its popular Project Milkweed offering. Last year, Project Milkweed distributed 779,601 seed packets across Tennessee. Plant species and seed material quantities are being offered like last year, with a maximum of 350,000 seed packets available for free to Tennessee residents. Orders will be filled while supplies last and can be placed at https://tnpollinators.org/milkweed/.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Drivers traveling on SR 153 in Hamilton County should be aware of upcoming road construction activities that will have an impact on traffic. Beginning Friday, June 14, 2024, at 9:00 pm ET and continuing until 6:00 am ET on Monday, June 17, 2024, Tennessee Valley Authority contract crews will close the SR 153 North bridge over the Chickamauga Dam for repairs.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Tennessee Department of Transportation will conduct its quarterly testing and maintenance on the Market Street Bridge in downtown Chattanooga on Sunday, June 9, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. EDT to 12 p.m. EDT. The bridge will be closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic as the testing is performed.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Once again, Manchester, Tennessee will host the annual Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, which is one of the most popular live music events in the country. Since 2002, the event has featured a diverse assortment of performers on a 700-acre Middle Tennessee farm that becomes the temporary home for thousands from across the country.
