NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Military Department, in conjunction with the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency and more than 30 other partnering agencies, is conducting a disaster response exercise throughout Tennessee, May 12-18. Named “Vigilant Guard 2025,” the exercise gives participants the opportunity to activate and employ their response plans to improve mission command, relationships, and interoperability among federal, state, and local agencies.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Eleven members of the Tennessee Air National Guard’s 134th Air Refueling Wing, headquartered in Knoxville, were recognized by the Tennessee Senate with a Joint Resolution, April 14, for heroism resulting in the awarding of Distinguished Flying Crosses while deployed for Operation True Promise.

LOUISVILLE, Tenn. – In the late afternoon of Saturday, March 22, a flight crew from the Tennessee Army National Guard, based at Joint Base McGhee-Tyson, rescued an injured hiker in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

SMYRNA, Tenn. –During a ceremony at Smyrna’s Volunteer Training Site on March 21, fourteen new military policemen graduated from the Tennessee Army National Guard’s Military Police Basic Course and are now military law enforcement officers and the newest members of the U.S. Army Military Police Corps.

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Bulgarian Air Force received its first batch of F-16 “Fighting Falcon” aircraft at Lockheed Martin's Greenville site, which serves as the production facility for the F-16, on Friday, January 31. This delivery marks a significant milestone in Bulgaria's efforts to modernize its military as a member NATO and a valued ally to the United States.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Approximately 150 Soldiers and Airmen from the Tennessee National Guard departed Tennessee, January 17, to join the nearly 8,000 National Guardsmen from across the U.S. preparing to support the 60th Presidential Inauguration on January 20. The Guardsmen left from Smyrna’s Volunteer Training Site aboard two C-17 Globemaster aircraft provided by Memphis’ 164th Airlift Wing.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Soldiers, Airmen, and friends of the Tennessee Military Department gathered at Nashville’s Joint Force Headquarters, Dec. 13, to celebrate and honor the National Guard’s 388th birthday.

On December 7, 2024, eleven members of the 134th Air Refueling Wing were awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for their heroic actions during a critical mission conducted earlier this year.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee National Guard celebrated the life and legacy of former President James K. Polk in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tennessee State Capitol, Nov. 2, in honor of Polk’s 229th birthday.
