NASHVILLE – The United States Department of Health and Human Services today announced the formation of the Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan, which will serve as the new, nationwide high risk pool. The addition of PCIP provides an additional option for uninsurable Tennesseans, who already have an option for coverage through AccessTN, the state’s existing high risk pool.

Enrollment in CoverKids was suspended late last year when membership reached the maximum that could be supported by the current budget.

NASHVILLE – Members of the AccessTN board of directors today approved a new policy to allow uninsurable children with chronic and acute medical conditions to enroll in the state-administered health insurance plan. The change will take effect immediately.
