Farms & Food Waste

Connecting Fams and Food Waste

Farms generate 24.2% of U.S. surplus food—about 16.9 million tons. Much of this loss results from low market prices, high labor costs, and strict cosmetic standards that limit demand for imperfect produce. As a result, large amounts of edible food remain unharvested and are ultimately tilled back into the soil.
