Evidence-Based Home Visiting
Evidence Based Home Visiting programs aid in cultivating the health and well-being of children and parents. Research shows that young children of families enrolled in EBHV programs see improvements in health and development outcomes and increased school readiness.About Evidence-Based Home Visiting
EBHV programs can be an effective early-intervention strategy to improve the health and well-being of children and parents. Research shows improved development outcomes and increased school readiness for young childrent of families enrolled in EBHV programs.
EBHV programs:
- Improve family functioning and parenting skills
- Link families with appropriate social service agencies
- Promote early learning
- Help new parents provide safe, nurturing environments for their children and become more self-sufficient
Families participate on a voluntary basis and are provided with ongoing support in times of need.
The Tennessee Department of Health currently governs EBHV programs in all 95 counties via service contracts with local community-based agencies and county and regional health departments.

I also really enjoy how Parents as Teachers has get-togethers with other families in the program, such as outdoor activities and story time. I don't believe we'd be where we are without them!
