About State Office Holiday Hours
When a holiday falls on Saturday, the Friday before the holiday is substituted. When the holiday falls on Sunday, the Monday following the holiday is substituted.

- Monday, January 2 – New Year’s Day (state offices will also be closed for New Year’s Eve on Friday, December 30, 2022)
- Monday, January 16 – Martin Luther King Jr. Day
- Monday, February 20 – Presidents’ Day
- Friday, April 7 – Good Friday
- Monday, May 29 – Memorial Day
- Monday, June 19 - Juneteenth
- Tuesday, July 4 – Independence Day
- Monday, September 4 – Labor Day
- Friday, November 10 – Veterans Day
- Thursday, November 23 and Friday, November 24 – Thanksgiving*
- Friday, December 22 and Monday, December 25 – Christmas**
- Friday, December 29 – New Year’s Eve (state offices will also be closed for New Year’s Day on Monday, January 1, 2024)
*Pursuant to Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 4-4-105(a)(3), the Governor has designated that the Columbus Day holiday shall be substituted for the Friday after Thanksgiving.
**The Governor has approved an additional day of closure, the day before Christmas Eve to observe the holiday.
