Requirements
Licensing Requirements
1. Surety Bond
2. Fidelity Bond
3. Improvement Care Trust Agreement executed by the cemetery owner and trustee
4. Preneed Services merchandise and Services Trust agreement
5. Notarized letter saying you are in possession of a master map of the cemetery
6. If a corporation or limited liability company, a copy of the charter filed with the Secretary of State.
7. Zoning Letter
8. Information regarding the trustee in a PDF format:
a) The name of the financial institution/trustee
b) The mailing address of the trustee’s office
c) The contract person’s name
d) The phone number of the contact person
e) The email address of the contact person
9. Cemetery signs at all entrances stating the cemetery is registered with the Department of Commerce and Insurance.
Application & Fees
Complete the “Initial Cemetery Registration” application online at core.tn.gov. The fee for the initial application is $1,000.
Renewal Information
Renewals are done online through your CORE account. The fees associated with renewal are $500 with Improvement Care Trust Funds less than $200,000, or $1,000 with Improvement Care Trust Funds more than $200,000.
The grace period for your license is nine (9) months. You are charged a late fee of $250 per month or portion of each month late within the grace period. After the grace period, you must submit a reinstatement request to funeral.cemetery.board@tn.gov.
