Acquisition Office

The Right-of-Way Division Acquisition Office is responsible for the acquisition of real property required for state transportation needs. The majority of all acquisition activities are performed in the regional offices.

The regional Chief of Acquisition oversees a staff of right-of-way agents in each region who handle negotiations for the Department. Properties that have entered into the condemnations process, federal and state land transfers, railroad acquisitions, proposals to local governments, and the certification process are some of the tasks overseen by Central office staff.
